Stop the annoying popups in the system tray
Known as balloon tips, these are the annoying ‘tips’ in a bubble that pop up down by the system tray. These are immensely irritating to most people, and continue to pop up again and again.
So… to remove them, this requires some registry editing - it is very simple and safe, unless you are really unsure about editing the registry.
- Go into registry editor ‘Start - Run - regedit’
- Go to ‘HKCU - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Current Version - Explorer - Advanced’
- In here, right mouse click in the right hand pane - choose ‘New - DWORD Value’
- Call it ‘EnableBalloonTips’ - no quotes, but the capitals are vital and press enter
- Exit registry editor
Following a restart the annoying popups will be stopped.
