More Windows Shortcuts, using the Windows Logo key
Some more Windows shortcuts now - these quick tips will save you a little time, and are mostly based on the Windows (flag) key.
Before going into those shortcuts, let me mention the shift key. Many people don’t realise that holding down the shift key has a couple of uses. Firstly hold down shift when deleting files, shortcuts, emails etc - and the recycle bin/deleted items folder will be bypassed. Very handy if you get sick of emptying the recycle bin. You can also hold down the shiftkey when you insert a CD/DVD - this will bypass autorun!
Anyway - on to the Windows key shortcuts, capitals are only to confirm the correct letter.
- windows key + L = lock your computer
- windows key + E = Open windows explorer
- windows key + D = show the desktop
- windows key + M = minimise all windows (show desktop is usually better)
- windows key + shift + M = undo the minimise all windows
- windows key = open the start menu
- windows key + pause/break = open System Properties
- windows key + R = Run (equivalent of ’start-run’)

Cool! I dodn’t know about bypassing autorun. Damn autorun annoys the hell out of me.
I know about locking the computer. Very handy.
